I transferred to ServInt from a shared server, and there is a night and day difference. The power and flexibility I have running my own hosting environment through ServInt has me wondering why I didn't do this sooner. The network is fast and the support team is excellent. This was a great move.

1x1.gif

1x1.gif 1. What do I agree to when signing up? Are there contract lengths associated with your plans? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif When you sign up for service, you agree to our Acceptable Use Policies and standard Terms of Service, found here:
Acceptable Use Policies
Terms of Service
You also agree to a short Contract Term, which is written as follows:

"I understand that I am entering into a 'Month to Month' agreement, and will provide 30 days advance written notice should I elect to cancel my server contract."

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 2. Is there any payment method accepted other than credit card? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We prefer the use of credit cards to handle activation, as it allows you to go online quickly. We also accept wire transfers, money transfers, and checks. Please note that there may be additional fees for wire transfer payments, and there will be a waiting period for payment via check until the check clears. We also accept PayPal as payment. However, credit cards will certainly get you up and running in the fastest manner possible. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 3. What do you charge for excess bandwidth usage? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Our fee is $1/month per 4 GB ($.25 per 1 GB) for excess bandwidth used in a monthly billing cycle. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 4. What do your charge for SSL certificates? Can I have more than one certificate per server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We offer GeoTrust QuickSSL certificates at $100 per year. GeoTrust's QuickSSL Premium certificates are $125 a year and allow you to place an authentication logo on your website. We will assist you in installing either GeoTrust certificate. Alternately, you are free to bring and install your own SSL certificates. We are unable to assist you in setting up self-signed certificates. You can get more than one certificate per server, so long as you have separate IPs for each certificate. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 5. Are there any charges associated with adding a domain, domain parking, domain registration, etc.? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Since this is effectively a dedicated server, you can add as many domains as you wish. You can park as many domains as you care to. Neither will cost you any additional fees. You can register domains, and normal charges apply. Use your favorite registrar, or visit ServIntdomains.com for $10/year domains. If you use a control panel, there are easy options that will allow you to add and park domains. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 6. Do you offer domain registration and if so, what are your prices? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Currently, our domain registration prices are $10/year. Visit ServIntdomains.com for further details. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 7. Do you offer a money back guarantee? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We do not have a money back guarantee. We feel that our longstanding reputation lends significant credibility to our service, and we provide exactly what we promise. We did a trial offer of a money back guarantee, and found that some people attempted to exploit it by using our service just long enough to cancel without paying. Some even abused it further by performing illegal activities such as spamming, which also hurt our other customers. We want to ensure we are focusing our time and energy on reliable, paying customers who deserve our attention. We trust that once you have become a customer you will be happy we protect you in such a way. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 8. Can I get a trial period and test out the server for free? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif This is not something that we can offer. It has been our experience that offering "free test accounts" opens our network and customers to a number of potential security risks. There really is not a reliable way to screen a potential customer from a resourceful hacker, outside of having received a payment. We have tried offering free trial accounts in the past and have found that it attracts Internet abusers such as spammers who jump from network to network quickly, staying long enough to cause damage to legitimate customers. Though surely many legitimate users would benefit from a trial period and decide to stay, we must focus our attention on policies that best protect our existing customers. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 9. When will I be billed, and what does my billing period cover? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Managed Dedicated Server bills all run from the beginning of the month through the end of the month. Since you pay your first bill in full when signing up, your second bill will be prorated so that you are not charged until your account is online. Invoices are mailed or e-mailed around the 21st of each month for the following month. Although your base bill is pre-billed, your overages are calculated from the 21st of the month through the 20th of the next and are post billed. For example, your March bill will go out around February 21st and will have any overages from the January 21st - February 20th time period. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 10. Do you have any prepayment options? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif At time of sign-up, in addition to paying month-by-month, you can choose to prepay for services 6 months or one year in advance. We offer a 5% discount on the entire contract value of service to individuals who prepay for 6 months, and 10% for customers who prepay for a year. There are no prepayment discounts for add-ons such as licensing of third-party software, IPs, bandwidth overages or SSL certificates. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 11. Do you offer a less expensive Dedicated Server than the ones listed in your promotional specials? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Our Dedicated Server Specials are the most cost-effective server packages we offer. Each of our promotional server configurations is built to accommodate substantial resource requirements and does not allow for the reduction of bandwidth, or lesser grade server parts. ServInt has not offered a dedicated server package for less than $199 on a monthly basis in more than 5 years. We do not promise to be the least expensive server solution available, but we are certainly one of the best. More often than not, the phrase "you get what you pay for" holds true, when it comes to dedicated servers, server management, and quality hardware. ServInt offers high quality server products and top-notch support for extremely reasonable prices.

If you absolutely require a server for less than $200 on a monthly basis, we would like to encourage you to take a look at our Virtual Private Servers. We offer a full-line of Virtuozzo based VPS Products that are more than capable of providing you with the equivalent resources of a budget server, but with ServInt's world-class management and support.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 12. How long should I expect my server setup to take? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Dedicated Server setups generally happen within three to ten business days. The actual installation timeframe will depend upon whether your server is one of our standard server packages, or a custom configured server and whether we have the parts for your server in stock. We have the ability to setup standard servers relatively quickly, whereas, highly customized servers can take significantly longer. Generally speaking, there is a three to five business day turnaround time for single processor server orders. Contact Sales to find out how quickly we can have your new ServInt Dedicated Server online. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 13. Why do I need to supply a subdomain as my primary domain and why can't I use www.mydomain.com? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif The Control Panels used by ServInt require that a subdomain be used as the primary account name. This subdomain is used to register the Control Panel, and alternately as one way for ServInt to uniquely identify each server. cPanel in particular has documented problems when users utilize 'www' as a third level domain. Therefore, we strongly recommend alternate subdomains, such as vps.mydomain.com, server.mydomain.com, or any third level domain other than www.mydomain.com. Of course, you will still be able to configure www.mydomain.com in your web server. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 14. What does Managed Services mean? How much handholding can I expect? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif What Managed Services means at ServInt is that we accept complete responsibility for everything installed and delivered with your server. We can also patch and update the Base Operating System, as well as primary applications such as Apache, PHP, and MySQL when necessary, install third-party software, monitor a variety of services on each account, and proactively resolve issues that present themselves. We answer lots of questions, and try to help in every way.

We make sure that what you were provided works, and stays working. When it comes to what you do with it afterwards, we will do our very best to help you out if you run into trouble. We simply cannot guarantee support for third party scripts and applications added to a server. There are thousands of 3rd party applications, and when they are added, it introduces millions of variables and millions of possible issues associated with those variables. Not all of these are foreseeable or easy to fix, nor are they necessarily fixable at all.

While we support all standard server applications, we are unable to support every 3rd party application that exists. Committing to install, support, patch, upgrade, and fix everything from A to Z, including many things we have never seen or heard of, and many things that just simply may not work, is not realistic. Though we have to draw the line somewhere - when we do, we still do our best to point you in the right direction. We will never leave you hanging without anywhere to turn.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 15. Do you offer lease-to-own options on this or any of your products? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We do not offer lease-to-own dedicated servers. We believe this is bad practice, as in the end, you become responsible for the replacement of your own hardware, and if it becomes obsolete, you are back to buying another server. By allowing ServInt to maintain ownership of the hardware, you free yourself to upgrade as you please, as well as avoid liability for costs of replacement hardware. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 16. Does ServInt's Managed Services cover software installations such as Zend, Ioncube, Tomcat, MySQL, Python, etc, or will we need to do this ourselves? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We cover some basic software installations, and if you choose to use cPanel, you have the ability to select and deselect software easily on your own. Typically, basic Linux knowledge and a willingness to learn is all that is required in order to install most software on your own. Our NOC will be happy to help you install whatever software you need, but please note that we cannot support all 3rd party software that exists. There is simply far too much of it out there. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 17. How much server management can we expect from ServInt? Can we assume you will be able to manage all our server administration needs, or will we need an additional administrator? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif You can expect a reasonable level of server management, but we are not a replacement for your need to be involved. Our Managed Services do not keep you from having to work by day, they just let you sleep at night. We do not configure cPanel, we do not define your packages or install skins and themes. You still need to operate your business, but we will keep it running. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 18. Can you tell us a little bit about your network and data facilities? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif ServInt operates multiple data facilities in the Northern Virginia region. For more information about ServInt's datacenter facilities, click here. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 19. I do not speak English. Do you offer support in my language? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We do not have a large enough number of non-English-speaking employees to offer satisfactory support in any language than English at this time. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 20. If not, do you offer a control panel (skin) in my language? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Non-English language Skins are available from individual control panel manufacturers. Both Plesk and cPanel are equipped to give you the power to change all text displayed to whatever you want. The Plesk Control Panel offers the option of adding language packs for a small fee. If you are using cPanel/WHM, check out this page, and the links on this page, for more information:

http://www.cpanel.net/docs/whm/Languages.htm

You are able to not only incorporate a foreign language text, but also retain the English text. Effectively showing all text twice, once in each language, resulting in a bilingual skin if you so choose. Additionally, ServInt offers special deals on RVSkin, which offers support in 20 languages for cPanel customers. More information can be found by clicking here.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 21. If I put anything into the 'Special Setup Specifications' field on your sign-up form, will you do it for me? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Special setup requests are subject to approval and may cause slight delay in processing. Please be as specific as possible with your requests. If you need us to install particular software for you, we will try our best to help, however we cannot guarantee that every type of third-party software will work. Be sure to include a link to the relevant software along with a list of installation instructions. If you need to know whether a specific request can be accommodated ahead of time, we suggest that you secure prior approval by contacting our sales department. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 22. Is it okay to run Tomcat on my Dedicated Server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Tomcat tends to be quite a resource hog on a server, but you are certainly welcome to install it. It should run optimally on all of our server configurations, however you will need to keep a close eye on your scripts and make sure that they are efficiently optimized. The latest versions of Tomcat require 1 GB of RAM to startup, so if you are planning on running Tomcat in addition to other software with high resource requirements, you will want to make sure that you have sufficient RAM to properly operate your environment. Our sales department would be happy to advise you on this. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 23. What is the difference between a Managed Dedicated Server and a VPS? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif The basic difference between these two dedicated products is that a VPS is hosted in a shared environment, thus reducing the overhead costs involved with owning a server. VPS accounts are capable of nearly everything a dedicated server can do. However, a VPS account cannot compete with the resources provided by a powerful standalone dedicated server. Additionally, the shared environment of a VPS does not allow for recompiling the kernel, unlike a ServInt Managed Dedicated Server. Root access is granted to dedicated server and VPS clients alike. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 24. Can I compile my own Kernel on your Managed Dedicated Servers? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Yes, absolutely! You will be granted root access to you server, which gives you the ability to configure your server however you desire. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 25. Will I have the ability to remotely reboot my server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif ServInt does not provide remote reboot services for our dedicated servers, although this feature will be available soon for all of our Dual Core server offerings. We are always happy to reboot your server for you, upon request. Simply contact our Network Operations Center; our staff is on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year to assist with immediate reboots, software installations, troubleshooting and much more. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 26. My current site is hosted under an OS other than CentOS, Fedora Core, or FreeBSD, and I would like to know if you offer that OS? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Right now, we are only fully supporting CentOS, Fedora Core and FreeBSD. We also offer a number of Microsoft Windows hosting solutions, for which we provide 24 hour monitoring and hands-on support. CentOS, Fedora Core and FreeBSD are all available free of licensing costs. Each has readily available patches and updates. We have chosen to offer these operating systems to keep the costs for our Managed Dedicated Servers affordable. If there is a specific base operating system that you require, please contact our Sales Department at sales@servint.com and they will be happy to discuss your needs with our engineers. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 27. Can I get RedHat 7.3 or 9.0 installed on my servers? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We are sorry, but we no longer support RedHat 7.3 or 9.0 on our Managed Dedicated Server Packages. These base operating systems are not nearly as secure, or advanced as the operating systems we are currently supporting: CentOS, Fedora Core, or FreeBSD. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 28. I am currently hosted on a virtual hosting account/reseller package running cPanel. Is the cPanel/WHM you offer for your Dedicated Servers the same as what I am currently using? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Because this is a dedicated server and not a virtual/reseller product, there are some things to keep in mind. If you are using cPanel/WHM, you will need to do things you would not normally have to do in a reseller package or virtual hosting account, such as configure the nameservers in WHM. We can certainly help, but if you have not worked with a full version of cPanel/WHM before, be prepared for a learning curve. We recommend allowing yourself several days to get familiar with the functionality of your server while preparing to move in.

(Note: If you are currently running cPanel/WHM on a ServInt VPS Account or Dedicated Server, then you are already using a full version of cPanel/WHM.)

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 29. Can we set up our own nameservers? If so, are there any charges associated with this? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif You have root access to your server and full administrative access to your control panel. Those two capabilities bring a great deal of advantages, but also a number of responsibilities. You are able to do with your server what you would like, which certainly includes setting up your own nameservers. Our NOC is able to help you set up your nameservers if you do not know how, and even help you make entries if necessary. If you prefer to do it on your own, we are always available to assist you to make your setup as hassle-free as possible. There is no additional fee for this. Of course, you are still responsible for what you do with your server, as well as how you ultimately configure it. We are, however, always there to help. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 30. What software will come preinstalled on my server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif The answer to this question is dependant upon whether you opt to have an administrative control panel installed on your server. If you choose to have a plain Linux installation, your server will come preinstalled with Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl, Analog Stats and a few other core software packages. Otherwise, both cPanel/WHM and Plesk have a variety of software that they preinstall like MySQL, PHP, Apache, Bind, Sendmail/QMail, statistics packages and much more. Plesk and cPanel/WHM do not install the same exact software packages. For a complete list of their available software installations, please feel free to visit their respective websites. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 31. Do you sub-license Virtuozzo so I can provide my own VPS Solutions to my customers? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Although we do not sub-license Virtuozzo, you are certainly welcome to purchase your own licensing and install it on our servers. However, due to Virtuozzo's time-intensive management requirements, you will need to support your own installation. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 32. Is there anything I can't install on my server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif You are welcome to install (or request the installation of) any software you wish on your Dedicated Server, as long as it is compatible and allowed by our AUP. You have root access to the server; you can modify your own kernel and install any variety of third-party software and scripts. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 33. Can I use your nameservers instead of running my own? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We ask that cPanel customers run their own DNS, as it tends to make cPanel perform better. All other customers may feel free to make use of our nameservers at no additional charge. Simply send any nameserver request to our NOC, and it will be handled quickly. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 34. Will you back up my files? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Daily backups are not included with our Managed Dedicated Servers. However, we strongly encourage all customers to maintain backups. On all single drive server configurations, ServInt allows the addition of a second hard drive for only a one time setup fee and no additional monthly cost. If you have no other backup plan, we recommend taking advantage of this option. In a multiple drive configuration, we can install the ServInt Backup Script onto a designated backup drive at no additional charge. The ServInt Backup Script is designed for recovery of an entire system, and does not provide the ability to restore individual files. If you wish to have more direct control over you daily backups and you use a Control Panel, you may prefer to configure your Control Panel software to handle your backups for you. The backups available through your Control Panel software can be set to write files to your primary or secondary drives, as well as to other network locations.

All current servers with base configurations of 2 or 4 drives come default with hardware RAID 1 or 10 respectively.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 35. Can you explain how file backups are done using the ServInt Backup Script? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Our backup script performs backups on a daily basis to a secondary drive. The script mounts the backup drive, synchronizes the data, and then un-mounts the second drive. The backup script does not create an exact duplicate of your primary drive, instead it gives us a restoration point from the previous day's backup. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 36. Does this mean that I do not need to back up my own files? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We have complete confidence in our backup script. Nonetheless, we always recommend that customers take additional steps to periodically back up their files locally on their own machines. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 37. How long does it take to repair a server if one of its components fails? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif The answer to this question depends upon the server part that failed. Replacing a stick of RAM or a power supply is a quick and simple procedure, whereas, replacing a faulty motherboard or rebuilding RAID configuration can take a considerable amount of time. Regardless of what component failed, our goal is to get your server back on-line as fast as possible. We have a very good reputation for minimizing downtime and repairing potential issues quickly. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 38. What are Control Panels and what are they used for? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Control Panels put the power of server administration into your hands with a (somewhat) easy to use graphical interface. Resellers and webmasters responsible for multiple websites often use control panels for the administration of their sites. They can be very useful in providing a feature-rich environment for your users or webmasters, but they do require some getting used to. ServInt offers cPanel and Plesk as Control Panels on its Managed Dedicated Server platforms. Though we typically recommend using the one you are most familiar with, ServInt's sales staff is happy to advise you as to which Control Panel, if any, is right for you.

For people who do not wish to fully administer their own server, you can take better advantage of ServInt's managed services by choosing against installing a Control Panel and allowing ServInt's support staff to manage your daily server needs. Alternately, people comfortable with running a server at the command line may find the changes that a Control Panel makes to a system too bothersome, and may wish to avoid Control Panels as well. No matter what tools you choose to run your website with, we are always pleased to assist you in any way that we can.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 39. What Control Panels does ServInt offer on its Managed Dedicated Server products, and what do they cost? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif ServInt offers cPanel/WHM and Plesk as administrative control panels, each has a monthly fee associated with its licensing. Only one control panel can be installed per server. There is a $30 monthly fee for cPanel/WHM and allows for the hosting of an unlimited number of domains. Plesk also commands a $30 monthly fee, which provides you with a 100 user Plesk license and the Plesk Power Pack. Customers can upgrade to an unlimited Plesk license, also with Plesk's Power Pack, for an additional $15 monthly fee. This upgrade can be performed at any time, so you can start with the base license and upgrade it when needed.

For more information on cPanel/WHM, visit http://www.cpanel.net, or http://www.swsoft.net/plesk to learn more about Plesk.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 40. Can we pay you extra to manage our control panel, run our nameservice and in general be our website administrator? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif In general, if you need our help, we will do what we can. If you need something done on the control panel, we will be happy to help, and if you need us to place entries in your nameserver, we can do that as well. Of course, there are limits to what we are able to do, but we are sure you do not expect or want us to run your entire business. We are always there to help, but at the same time we are an extension and enhancement of your knowledge and understanding of your site, we are not a replacement of it. There will be some things you will want to have control of yourself, and for those things, you will need to read the manuals and docs, familiarize yourself with your control panel if you chose one, work with it, setup the reseller accounts, define packages, and get yourself going. Our forums should help you out a lot. Budget a few days to get yourself up to speed, and do not expect to start moving customers in right away. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 41. Will we always be upgraded to the latest cPanel/WHM or Plesk version? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif ServInt will perform security maintenance on servers and Control Panels as needed, but will normally not proactively make 'feature' upgrades on behalf of clients.

ServInt installs the latest "STABLE" version tree of cPanel/WHM. You will have the ability to update your cPanel installation through the WHM Automated Update tool, and the ability to select your upgrade path from a variety of update trees. We typically recommend using the "STABLE" tree for your updates, but you are welcome to select from any of the update tree options, including the more progressive "RELEASE" tree.

Customers can upgrade to future releases of Plesk through the Control Panel. Alternately, ServInt can conduct updates upon request. It is always best to check with ServInt before making a major upgrade, to ensure that we have completed stability testing on the upgraded platform.

1x1.gif 42. When cPanel supported software fails, do you proactively fix it or do we have to fix it ourselves? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We monitor your server, and can monitor services on the server as well. By default we monitor the server (ICMP) and the Apache webserver (HTTP) to make sure that both are properly functioning at all times. You can request for us to monitor additional services such as HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, POP, NNTP, DNS, and there is no extra cost for this. When we see something break that we are monitoring, we login and fix it. Because cPanel technicians know their software best, we occasionally do turn to cPanel technicians for assistance in resolving problems that we are unable to. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 43. I am currently on a cPanel/WHM server. Can you transfer my account to my new ServInt server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif As a responsible hosting provider, we are aware of the legal repercussions of logging into other providers' networks and removing files. Though we cannot physically do the transfer for you, with our help you will be able to do this on your own, quickly and easily. Control Panels make account transfers simple these days. Doing a WHM to WHM transfer, for instance, is quite simple, and shouldn't give you any trouble. WHM actually has a "Transfers" feature that is designed to transfer sites from one cPanel machine to another. Check out http://www.cpanel.net/docs/whm/Transfers.htm for some basic reading material, and to get an idea of how it works. Other configurations are just as simple to accomplish. We are there to guide you, and to assist you if you run into any problems. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 44. Which is better, cPanel or Plesk? Can I get both? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Both cPanel and Plesk take over much of the application functionality of the server. Because both would be wrestling for control of the same resources, it is impossible to have both Plesk and cPanel on the same dedicated server at the same time. It is difficult to assess which, then, is better, as a lot depends on what you are looking to do with it. We can say that cPanel is more popular, has more 'helper' apps written for it, and since it has such a larger install base, there are far more support resources for its use. However, it really does come down to a matter of personal preference. Some customers who get two or more servers end up getting at least one of each so that they have a broader product offering for their own clients. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 45. What type of content am I allowed to place your dedicated servers? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We allow legal content. You are not allowed to send SPAM or host any content that would be illegal in the U.S. You may not run IRC BOTs or utilize any network unfriendly devices commonly used to attack other network users. Your network activity must fall within the scope of our Acceptable Use Policies:

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 46. Can my hosting clients contact ServInt for support directly? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Although we would like to be able to assist you with the management of your clients, we cannot provide them with support directly. For security purposes, our support staff is not allowed to provide support to anyone that is not listed as a primary or technical contact on your account. We allow one primary contact and two technical contacts for each dedicated server account. So, unless you have chosen to list you clients as an authorized technical contact, they will not be able to interface with our technical staff directly. Therefore, you will be responsible for supporting your own clients, but we will be available to you. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 47. How is my server connected to the network? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Each of our dedicated servers is connected to our network by a 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet segment. Additionally, we can offer unmetered or rate-limited connections upon request. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 48. Can I resell webhosting on my Dedicated Server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Yes! You can certainly resell hosting with our servers. In fact, many of our customers are resellers and use our servers for exactly that purpose. Do keep in mind that if you are used to using a control panel, such as cPanel/WHM or Plesk in a reseller environment, you will have a few extra things to configure. Maintaining a dedicated server requires a different skill set than managing your own reseller package. Some of the functionality is the same, but you will need a basic understanding of how to manage a server. Fortunately, administrative control panels can greatly reduce the amount of system administration knowledge required to have your own dedicated server. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 49. Does the server come with dedicated IPs for each site added, and if so, how many? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Each of our Managed Dedicated Servers come with at least 4 IPs. If you are using cPanel, for example, this gives you a primary IP, 2 nameserver IPs, and another IP you can use to setup your virtual hosts. Alternately, you can set your host IP, their primary DNS server, and your shared hosting IP to be the same, your 2nd DNS server as the 2nd IP, and have 2 free. We suggest you do name-based virtual hosting, which allows you to use one IP for many domains. There is no qualitative advantage to using multiple IPs, and it makes administration easier. However, should you require more IPs, we offer the following CIDR Block options, pending proper justification under ARIN's guidelines.

IP Block AllocationMonthly Fee
/29 (8 IPs, 5 usable):$8
/28 (16 IPs, 12 usable):$16
/27 (32 IPs, 28 usable):$32
/26 (64 IPs, 60 usable):$50
/25 (128 IPs, 124 usable):$100
/24 (256 IPs, 252 usable):$200

Information on how to provide proper justification for your additional IP Address needs can be found at http://www.servint.net/services/iprequest.php.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 50. How many IPs can I get on my Dedicated Server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif All Managed Dedicated Servers include at least 4 IP addresses. A single server can have a maximum of one /24 of IP space (1 Class C). Please keep in mind, all additional IP allocations require proper justification under ARIN's guidelines. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 51. What bandwidth billing options are available on ServInt's Dedicated Servers? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Although all of our server specials are based on "per GB" (metered) billing solutions, we do offer unmetered connections, as well as "per Mbps" billing options. If you have a specific bandwidth billing requirement, please let us know and we will be happy to try to accommodate your needs.

ServInt only sells products with guaranteed available bandwidth. Whether you order 1 or 1000 Mbps, you will never share it with others and can always use your maximum purchased bandwidth.

1x1.gif
1x1.gif 52. Will we be able to easily upgrade to a larger server package at a later date? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Upgrading you server can be accomplished in one of two ways. You can either upgrade some of the components in your server, or you can choose to upgrade into an entirely new server configuration. The scalability of your server's components will be based on the server configuration you purchased. You are welcome to contact our Sales Department at sales@servint.com with any questions you have about upgrading your existing server, and we will be happy to walk you through the process. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 53. What if I want a larger package than is offered on your website? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Talk to us about your needs and surely we can find a package for you. We will be happy to work with you to build you a custom configuration that will more than meet your needs. We can also help you explore other options with ServInt such as server clusters or load-balanced configurations. Please feel free to contact us at sales@servint.com with your needs and we will supply you with quotation for service. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 54. Will we be able to install whatever control panel themes we want? Will you install server-wide licenses for them? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif You are certainly able to install whatever themes you wish. Additionally, as a ServInt dedicated server client you are eligible to purchase Fantastico De Luxe for a yearly licensing fee of $35 and RVSkin for a yearly licensing fee of $35. Your initial fee will be assessed at signup and then renewed yearly on your behalf. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 55. Do you offer any premium log analytics or statistics programs with your servers (i.e.: Urchin) free of charge? Are there any discounted rates we can receive in regards to this? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif As of this time, the only stats being offered are the ones that come with the Control Panel. However, please let us know what statistics programs you have used effectively in the past, as there is a good chance we will seek to add this functionality sometime in the future. Your input is helpful. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 56. Do you offer clustered or load-balanced server solutions? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Yes. Please feel free to discuss your clustering or load balancing needs with our sales staff and they will be happy to supply you with a custom solution based on your needs. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 57. How does ServInt monitor its servers? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Our technicians monitor multiple ports on your server to make sure that it always remains operational. We monitor HTTP and ICMP by default, and can provide monitoring for multiple other ports upon request, including HTTPS, FTP, SMTP , POP, NNTP, DNS and more. If one of these ports shows "down" in our monitoring system, our technicians proactively address the issue. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 58. Is there a way I can monitor my server's bandwidth consumption beyond the standard statistics packages that are installed on the server? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif Yes, you will have access to our customer portal, where you can monitor your total bandwidth usage from the switch port. Additionally, you will have access to your server's MRTG Graph as well. 1x1.gif
1x1.gif 59. Do your Dedicated Server packages come with a Service Level Agreement (SLA)? 1x1.gif
1x1.gif We do have a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which constitutes our network SLA. In addition, all of our products include:

-Free upgrades to OS including security patches
-Free remote-hands, including debugging problems
-No charge for reboots or system troubleshooting regardless of fault
-Immediate hardware replacement (at our cost) if components fail
-Unlimited port-monitoring, pro-active response to problems
-Full 24/7 tech support including: assistance with configuration, DNS management, apache/SSHD/OpenSSL/nameserver/etc configuration, and more

If something breaks, our on-site technicians are there to fix it - 24/7, 365. An SLA is one thing, but what is far more important is history. As countless happy customers can attest, on the rare occasion when things break, ServInt fixes them, FAST.
