Will our VPS automatically be upgraded to the newest version of cPanel/WHM?
By default WHM/cPanel will upgrade automatically. It is a setting within WHM and is customizable depending on an individuals needs. Upgrades are typically required by ServInt only when an upgrade is necessary from a security perspective. However, you may upgrade your version at any time, and we can assist you in doing so or help you to enable or disable automatic update features depending on what suits your needs best. Open a ticket in your customer portal or refer to the ServInt VPS Customer Forums about what steps you should take to achieve your goals.
There are circumstances in which WHM/cPanel upgrades are blocked because of issues with other software. MySQL needing to be upgraded is a common example. If you encounter problems with any WHM/cPanel upgrade, please open a ticket; we can assist with both upgrading the required software and then WHM/cPanel.
With cPanel, our base installations are done off of the RELEASE cPanel/WHM tree. We “template” much of the operating system and cPanel/WHM to reduce your disk space overhead. You can switch to another tree, such as the more progressive CURRENT tree. Keep in mind that when you do so, it will update a number of things, and take up more of your disk space as you move further from what was templated by default.
